12 Escoles, 12 Artistes: We don't need no thought control

September 9, 2019

Last April, HarryBones and I had the pleasure of participating in the 3rd edition of 12 Escoles, 12 Artistes, in Castellón. We were assigned to the CEIP Cervantes.

Our idea when presenting the sketch combined several concepts: future, education as opposed to unique thinking, and feminism / equality.

With these concepts in mind, we decided to represent the head of a female astronaut, looking to the infinite, to the future, while being fully immersed in a world of ideas. Gold represents the highest ideas. The different shades of red, emotions. The M, of Mujer (woman), of Musa. And a letter, because language is our way of embracing abstraction and communicating with each other and letters are the representation of it. We have made language tangible.

The phrase, taken from Another Brick in the wall, part II, was not intended to be more controversial than real, because one thing is to educate and the other to direct minds in one direction.

The project was masterfully directed by David Ruiz and was divided into two batches. The artists with whom we share space-time and laughter were: Escif, Fasim, Wendy, Ozzy and Toner. Here you can see a summary of how we did it. And in this other link the post that Montana Colors published in its Mtn World about the project.
